THIS IS NOW ON DELAY - SNAP Sugary Beverages - NO ETA
Beginning 10/1/2026, SNAP benefits can no longer be used to purchase sugary beverages in the state of Ohio. Like other restricted items, this is set at the retailer’s level and will apply to SNAP benefits on any card, regardless of the state from which they are issued. Ohio has defined beverages in this category as those which list sugar, corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, or similar caloric sweeteners as the primary ingredient-or as the second ingredient if the first is carbonated water. Ohio is also restricting all fountain beverages. For more information related to eligible items, visit What Can SNAP Buy?
Job and Family Services and Ohio’s Department of Medicaid, will NEVER call you asking for your personal card information or PIN numbers to any programs. Please stay vigilant – never give out your personal information. Always contact your case worker directly if you’re ever unsure about a phone call or mailing you’ve received.
