Meet Steve and Grace! They have been foster parents for 6 years and have adopted 3 children in addition to their 4 biological daughters. Their children range in age from 3 to 30 years old!
Beginnings
We originally thought we were going to be missionaries in some far-off foreign land working with children’s ministries. God had a different plan for us and wanted us to be missionaries and serve kids right in our own community.
Likes
We love to see a parent put their child first and make the necessary changes to bring them back home. We love when a child can go back with their family!
Challenges
No two children are alike, so you constantly need to adapt to their needs, personalities, habits, and lifestyles. It takes a lot of love, patience, and understanding to be a foster parent. You need to be able to bite your tongue and hide your tears. These little ones depend on you.
Advice
Foster parenting is needed and it’s rewarding. These kids need good people to let them know that while their whole world is falling apart, someone cares about them. It’s rewarding to be there to help so that they can be kids without the weight of the world on their shoulders.
