Adult Protective Services

If an adult, 60 years or older, is at risk of self-neglect, neglect, abuse or exploitation by another, Job and Family Services will step in and help.  Job and Family Services social workers will assist the older adult and the adult's family to obtain the necessary services that will help the older adult remain in their home.  If the older adult is the victim of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, the social worker will help the adult and the adult's family find acceptable options, which will ensure the safety of the older adult, who has been victimized.  Guardianship is obtained through the Probate Court and is but one of the many options for the older adult, who is found to be incompetent.
