Both single- and two-parent families may be eligible for this program. The amount of assistance that is given depends on the size of your family and your monthly household income. To qualify, you, the parent, must sign a self-sufficiency contract that says you are trying to become free of all assistance. You must also commit to doing the required work activities (see Work Activities) to receive help with such things as Transportation and Child Care. This is a temporary program with a three-year eligibility limit.

Note: If you Do Not follow through with your signed self-sufficiency contract, you could lose cash, Food Stamps, and medical benefits.
